In thru-process temperature profiling the quality, and therefore value, of the profile data is greatly influenced on the ability to locate repeatedly the thermocouple tip at exactly where the measurement is required from product to product and run to run. For this reason, as products and applications vary PhoenixTM offer a comprehensive range of thermocouple designs. The design of the thermocouple and materials used in their construction are matched to the demands of the application. Whether needing a needle thermocouple to insert accurately into the core of a chicken portion or thermocouple that can be attached quickly yet reliably to the surface of a painted car body shell PhoenixTM can offer a solution.

All Phoenix TM type K thermocouples are manufactured to the highest quality standards and conform to the ANSI MC96.1 special limits specification. The insulation material and the plug terminations are colour coded to conform to the IEC 60584 standard.

Food Thermocouples

For HACCP cook validation temperature measurement is required generally at the core of the food product. To perform such measurement a needle thermocouple is the optimal design. Needle thermocouples are designed to allow easy quick insertion into the product, offer rapid temperature response characteristics helping provide accurate temperature measurement, run after run. The needle can be supplied with collar options (straight or tapered) to help maintain the thermocouple measurement point in the product during the process run.
For use in the Food market to comply with HACCP criteria it is important that the temperature profiling system is as accurate as possible. A critical part to the accuracy of the temperature measurement is the accuracy of the thermocouple. All PhoenixTM thermocouples are manufactured to the highest quality standards and conform to either ANSIMC96.1 ‘special limits’ specification (type K) or IEC60584.2 Class 1 (type T) as detailed below. The needles of all PhoenixTM thermocouples are made of food grade 316 stainless steel and offered with straight or tapered collars to help guarantee secure placement and positioning of the measurement tip in the food product being measured. Thermocouples can be supplied for use with the IP65 rated TS24 thermal barriers where no bung is fitted (eg: TC70-040-040-KT-NB-A where part number contains NB to signify No Bung).

Complimenting the standard range of food thermocouples PhoenixTM now offers a new range of thermocouples (Type K & T) designed so that they can be offered with an optional thermocouple certificate of calibration. The needle probe is designed so that the inner thermocouple core wires are continuous from thermocouple plug right through to the measurement tip of the needle allowing thermocouple wire calibration data to apply to the probe measurement. The thermocouple cable design ensures that the thermocouple wires are protected from the hostile application conditions whilst retaining flexibility. An optional 7-point thermocouple certificate of calibration allows creation of Thermocouple Calibration Correction files in the PhoenixTM Thermal View Food Software which permits automatic thermocouple correction factors to be applied to the profile data.
